The Ku Klux Klan (KKK) didn’t exist until after the Civil War, originating in 1865 in Tennessee. They used violence to target newly emancipated slaves. Since the 2016 election, they have broadened their scope beyond Black Americans to include Jews, immigrants, homosexuals, and Catholics.
